Becky and Alex’s wedding was one of the weddings I was most looking forward to this entire year for a variety of reasons. First, I was really excited to shoot a Fall wedding in Nashville at Green Door Gourmet. Second, I knew there were going to be some amazingly beautiful details (more on that later). And third, Becky and Alex’s engagement session was so awesome and they are both pretty photogenic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
But with all of this anticipation comes a lot of pressure. I wasn’t really sure if we could top the photos we got at their engagement session (spoiler alert: I think we did). Alex is a musician and Becky is an artist and I absolutely love working with other artists. All creatives have a common bond that we share in our creative struggles which gives us a sense of camaraderie. When I work with other creatives I feel like I inherently get a little more trust and leeway than I would to explore my own creative process. But, this comes with an enhanced sense of pressure to not only do a great job for them but to really “Wow” and make the pay-off worth it. Becky and Alex’s portraits are some of my all-time favorites that I have taken at a wedding for this very reason and they trusted me and gave me the time to capture what I needed to (plus they are just both awesome people).
Everyone that Becky and Alex chose to surround themselves with on their wedding day totally made the experience so filled with joy. Everyone was present and in the moment throughout all parts of the day. There were so many moments of genuine smiles and laughter. There are more photos of them and their guests dancing and having a great time at the reception than I deliver for some entire weddings! I felt so welcome and part of the day (there might be a photo of me in this post) and had an absolutely incredible time. 😎
O.k. lets talk details. Normally if a bride told me she was going to be handling so many of the wedding day details I would be a little concerned. Details aren’t the most important thing at weddings (at least I don’t think they should be). But they definitely help my job out by providing a beautiful backdrop for the photos and telling parts of the story that portraits don’t. Trying to copy craft projects that you’ve seen off of pinterest can be challenging (I know I’ve tried) and can come off cheesy and a long ways off from what they were supposed to be (if you aren’t familiar with pinterest fails go ahead and make that your next stop on the internet after looking through these photos). But Becky is not a normal bride. Somehow in the midst of planning this wedding she launched and went full-time with her own creative business, Stampily. (Brides if you want some really cool unique pieces for your wedding hit her up). Becky and her sister in-law, Anna, created some of the most gorgeous richly colored fall bouquets I’ve gotten to photograph. And Becky’s handmade stamped map prints & greeting cards made gorgeous centerpieces and decorations for the reception. Lastly, Becky’s bridesmaids are another perfect example of how mismatched dresses not only work but look really good! 💛💕💜
Thanks so much Becky and Alex for trusting us with capturing all this. I hope these photographs bring you joy for many years to come! 😍📷
