Nashville Engagement Session Portfolio

There are many iconic spots in Nashville, TN that make great spots for engagement photo sessions.  For some of our couples they want the Nashville skyline in the background of their engagement photo so they can show off their love of music city in their save the dates and engagement announcements.  Engagement sessions give us a great opportunity to get to know our couples prior to the wedding day.  Couples love to use their photos for save the dates or custom photo guestbooks.  Here are a few of our most recent engagement sessions that will hopefully give you some ideas in planning your session.

Nina + Evan

I have had so much fun getting to know Evan and Nina since Evan first contacted me to shoot his surprise proposal.  Before their wedding they wanted to incorporate some different locations as well as their dog (since it wouldn’t be able to come to the wedding).  This was my first time shooting at Ellington Agricultural Center and I was so happy with how beautiful of a location it turned out to be.  We got some amazing light at sunset for their photos.  Then we headed back to their house for some photos with their puppy.  See their beautiful golden hour engagement photos here.

Kimberly + Dave

If you follow my personal instagram you know that hiking and taking photos of waterfalls are two of my favorite things. So when Kimberly and Dave suggested Old Stone Fort State Park for their engagement session I knew we would get along just fine. It was so much fun exploring this park that has so much significance to Kimberly and Dave. This is where they got engaged and spend a lot of time together as a couple! I’m always cautiously optimistic to see how far couples will get into the water and these two were game for anything. As a result we got some incredible photos in front of the waterfalls.  See photos from their adventure engagement session here.

Caleb + Zach

The day of my shoot with Caleb and Zach I really didn’t know what to expect.  Each time I go into an engagement session there is an unknown element.  I never know how couples will interact with each other.  I never try to force couples into awkward or strange poses and instead want to capture them in their natural element in as relaxed an environment as possible.  This unknown element doesn’t make me nervous it gives me a sense of excitement and discovery.  I was nervous about their session because this was my first time photographing a couple on horseback while also riding a horse.  See photos from Caleb and Zach’s horseback engagement session here.

Nina + Justin

When I first moved to Nashville I really didn’t have any plans to stay here for very long. Now over ten years later I love the city that I call home. And I love exploring our vibrant downtown with newly engaged couples. One of my favorite engagement session paths is to take couples around Cumberland Park by the river and Titan’s Stadium then across the Pedestrian Bridge and down Broadway. This gives a really great variety in photos and shows off the skyline and our city’s culture and history.  Nina and Justin brought their dog along for some photos in Cumberland Park and then had their friend take it so we could go across the bridge into downtown.

Becky + Alex

The day of Becky and Alex’s engagement session I had been closely monitoring the weather.  The chances for rain and severe weather had kept going up as we got closer to their date.  I was really hoping that it would hold off long enough for us to get their engagement session in but it wasn’t looking good.  Instead of rescheduling Becky said that they were willing to chance it and if it rained take some photos in the rain if I was up for it.  I’m so glad we did!

Marie + Daniel

When Marie contacted me about doing engagement photos for her and her fiancee she let me know that she wanted something different and not the typical “downtown photos.”  I knew just the place and was hoping that they were a little bit adventurous.  Rock Island is one of my absolute favorite places in Tennessee.  I love all of the different terrain and the waterfalls are absolutely breathtaking.

Robert + Chelsea

Robert and Chelsea are a couple of my oldest friends. So I was very excited to be asked to be a part of their proposal, engagement and wedding. I met Robert at one of the first weddings I ever photographed, a destination wedding in Mexico. During that trip we became fast friends. Since then the three of us have attended many concerts together as well as Robert and Chelsea’s favorite activity (and mine), Lake Days out on their boat.  We incorporate the lake, some fall foliage, UT colors and the new deck they had built at their home into their engagement photos.

Liana + Brian

If you have been following along on my instagram you know that over the past two months I have been roadtripping across the United States visiting as many National Parks as I can for the National Parks Service 100 year birthday/anniversary.  Brian and Liana (who are also both photographers) let me make a few portraits of them while I was in Joshua Tree, California.  I absolutely love the desert light and the emotion we were able to capture in these photographs.

Brad + Stephanie

So this one isn’t just an engagement session…  It’s a proposal with an engagement session afterwards!  I absolutely LOVE photographing proposals!  It is such a rush knowing that I’m in on a (really big) secret.  I love all of the orchestrating and planning that goes into pulling off the perfect proposal.  As a bonus (if their gorgeous photos weren’t enough) I’ve included my tips on planning the picture perfect proposal.

Taylor + William

It was so much fun photographing Taylor and William for their engagement session.  We started the session at Edwin Warner Park.  I was really impressed with their non-matching coordination of their outfits.  After spending some time at the park we headed over to the Village Pub and Beer Garden for a few more photos in front of the I believe in Nashville wall and some mules and a few more photos inside the Village Pub.
