We absolutely love when our couples decide to do a first look. Here are our top seven reasons to have a first look at your wedding.
First things first. What exactly is a first look? A first look is simply when a bride and groom choose to see each other before the actual wedding ceremony. Now we know the tradition where it is bad luck for the groom to see the bride on her wedding day before the ceremony. But in our experience it is actually the opposite! Here’s why.
1) Much more flexibility in your timeline
If you don’t have a first look you have to fit in all of the photos with you and your partner and your wedding party and your families together after the ceremony. Depending on your timeline and when the sun is setting this can significantly hinder your timeline and the types of photos you will be able to get.
2) Family photos will be easier
You will be able to get all of the family photos out of the way prior to the ceremony. So you don’t have to worry about family members wondering off and everyone will be fresh and ready to go!
3) First Looks Make Great Photos
The first look is an opportunity for a very intimate moment between you and your partner. You also get to say whatever is on your mind and spend some beautiful quality time with them alone.
4) Less Pressure
With the flexibility in your timeline you won’t have the pressure of getting everything done immediately after the emotional time of the ceremony.
5) Less stress
Seriously why wouldn’t you like to have less stress on your wedding day?
6) More time to spend with your guests and family
Instead of your reception time being taken up with photos you actually get to party and enjoy your reception. Your family and guests will be happier and you might have a chance at getting something to eat!
7) Your photographer will love you
We will love you regardless of whether you choose to have a first look or not but it does really help us be able to capture all of the photos that you probably want of your wedding day.
